Your Miracle Is in Your Obedience

Sometimes you have to do something absurd to receive something extraordinary.

Jesus’s first miracle demonstrates the impossible: turning water into wine. He tells the servants to fill the waterpots with water, draw some out, and “take it to the master of the feast” (John 2:8, 6-8).

Bringing the Lord what I have and following His instructions is enough to get my miracle. I may only see an empty waterpot, but He sees jars of the best wine in the making (John 2:6, 9-10). What looks empty to me in the natural is brimming in the Spirit with the supernatural.

What looks empty to me in the natural is brimming in the Spirit with the supernatural.

The gap between what I see and what the Lord sees is what He tells me to do. His instructions come to manifest in the natural what He sees that’s supernatural.

His instructions come to manifest in the natural what He sees that’s supernatural.

This means it doesn’t need to make sense to my natural mind. I “have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16b), and that’s how I comprehend spiritual truths, not with my natural mind (1 Corinthians 2:13-16). My natural mind is carnal because it’s bound by my 5 senses, but “the mind of Christ” is spiritual because it’s not bound by anything.

I don’t have to try to make sense of unusual instructions for my miracle because the spiritual truths in them will only make sense to the mind of Christ in my inner man, not the carnal mind in my soul.

This is why I must “be renewed in the spirit of [my] mind” (Ephesians 4:23) so that I’m in sync with the Spirit of God when He moves, when He speaks, and when He breathes on me.

Responding immediately to divine instructions unlocks the glory coded in those instructions, meaning, “If you do this, I’ll do that.”

“If you fill the waterpots with water, I’ll turn them into wine” (John 2:6-9).

“If you pour out the jar of oil into as many jars as you can borrow, I’ll pay off your debt” (2 Kings 4:1-7).

“If you bake your last meal for the prophet, I’ll feed you and him throughout the famine” (1 Kings 17:8-16).

The miracle of turning water to wine shows the part we have to play in getting our miracle. Our part is obedience; His part is supernatural provision.

Obedience always brings a reward, and in desperate situations, the reward is often instant miraculous breakthrough, healing, or provision.

Your miracle is in your obedience because you only get what God has when you do what God says.
